Press Release On January 27 at 17.00 the premiere, of the Rotterdam Short production SOMMIGE DINGEN ZIJN HEEL EENVOUDIG (some things are really simple), will take place at the International Film Festival Rotterdam in the Great Hall of the Rotterdamse Schouwburg. The film is based on a short story of the same name written by Sanneke van Hassel published in the collected stories Witte Veder. The book with which she won the prestigious Dutch BNG literature price. In the Netherlands she is seen as one of the most promising writers of the moment. This is the first time her work has been rewritten for film.
SOMMIGE DINGEN ZIJN HEEL EENVOUDIGis a claustrophobic 10-minute film about a young father who takes his identity form his hobby: swimming underwater. One day he finds his place in his family taken by another man. A man with similar traits as himself. This creates a difficult situation in which main characters do not seem to get a grip on. Featuring the illustrious immaturity of contemporary young adults, they demonstrate an appalling lack of ability to act.
Starring: Bram Coopmans (last year nominated for a Louis d'Or, most important Dutch theatre price), Astrid van Eck (earlier seen in Waltz, Medea) and Dragan Bakema (seen in Olivier etc, Zwarte Zwanen) and the four year old Yinli Titt, who plays the daughter.
